WHY YOU NEED TO ORGANISE A CPD PROGRAMME FOR YOURSELF

From the beginning of 2007, all qualified accountants, irrespective of accounting body, will be covered by the CPD (continuing professional development) requirements.

As a professional accountant or tax advisor you need to be up to date and aware of a vast amount of tax, accounting compliance and legal matters. Added to this, often one is asked about HR and the "softer" personnel issues. Even if you are part qualified or "qualified by experience" you do need to build an appropriate programme to keep up with changes.

CPD Resource Limited, as an ACCA Registered CPD Provider, welcomes all accountants, preparers of tax returns and non-accounting professionals to its events as described in the 2007 programme.

All practitioners are required to do CPD. All other ACCA members, wherever they may work, full-time or part- time, plus all CIMA and ICAS qualified accountants are required to follow a CPD programme. We refer you to your respective accounting body's guidance on the various websites. CPD is a continuing commitment throughout the year. A balanced programme is needed to map areas to improve and enhance both your working knowledge and your performance for your employer. The programme should be based on your assessed needs to support your working knowledge, not just to equate to the minimum hours laid down.

CPD credit can be attained (in part only) via online study -ok, but a bit lonely. The accounting bodies encourage you to attend live presentations - by cpd providers, like ourselves, giving you attendance certificates, top speakers and study notes.

Therefore, those new to this should carry out an appraisal of your own cpd needs. Where attendance at "face- to-face seminars" can provide valued answers to gaps within your working knowledge, we at CPD Resource Ltd would be pleased to discuss things without any commitment to book.
